From Toronto, Canada, this dynamic, and inspiring teacher works as one of Los Angeles’s top vocal coaches. Dot began teaching music at age 14, when her music teacher saw her natural gift for teaching and put her in charge of writing original music for, and directing a 90-piece girl’s choir. At age 16, Dot became a professional singer, and by the time she was 18, she was teaching 5th and 6th grade Music and Drama at a local Elementary School, and privately coaching students to sing.

Her inspiring musical gift led her to become an award winning songwriter, jazz quintet singer and musical writer and director. In addition, Dot toured North America a performance group, taught Music, Drama and Choir in High Schools, directed regional church choirs of over 500 people in classical and contemporary Music, and performed in concerts of her own. In 1995 Dot was signed to Vagabond Productions (the Grammy award-winning Arrested Development’s label) and released a spiritual album of her own, entitled “Songs of the Soul.” She also gained experience as a studio singer, singing backup for NBC TV commercials, albums, animated children’s films, movies and even lead for Jeff Goldblum’s “The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra” Jazz Band.

During her musical adventures, Dot earned a triple degree in Music, Theatre Arts Education and Psychology, as well as a teaching certificate. She moved to LA and quickly become a sought after music industry vocal coach, appearing on shows like Idol Chat to give advice to American Idol contestants, and coaching singers, actors and speakers of all ages, styles and levels.

In 2007, her career made a dramatic turning point. After hitting rock bottom and surviving a life-threatening accidental surgery which left her severely debilitated, she was divinely inspired to learn and use chakra awareness and toning, along with mental discipline, positive thinking, and daily core building exercises to rapidly heal her eight inch–scar along her CORE. Thereafter, Dot applied her knowledge and experience to create a leading-edge revolutionary approach to empowered singing (C.O.R.E. Vocal Power®) and speaking, and coined the term: “Vocal Empowerment Coach” because after her healing, she realized how she could help others in a much deeper way.

Equally successful with children and adults, her proven approach helps people fall in love with their own voice and perform far beyond their own expectations. In addition to her advanced physical voice building exercises, her CORE Vocal Power® system also addresses pitch issues, song interpretation, performance, studio recording, overcoming nervousness, vocal health & repair, toning, sound healing & energy balancing, communication skills, and presentation skills, to name a few. She coaches Singers, Actors, Speakers, Corporate Businesses, and Entrepreneurs, and provides interactive Seminars, and Workshops locally and Nation-Wide.

In addition to working with artists and professionals of all levels, Dot has also worked successfully with the hearing impaired, speech issues including stuttering, stroke recovery, and spasmodic dysphonia, ADD, ADHD, and autism. Currently, she enjoys teaching private voice lessons, workshops and small group classes in and around Los Angeles and worldwide via Skype and telephone.

“Dot is a gifted teacher of the vocal arts and a fabulous human being. Her holistic, ‘total person’ approach to empowered singing is grounded in a deep technical knowledge of human physiology and psychology. This is not fast-food “click your heels together” pedagogy. I have been lucky enough to grow with Dot as I am ready and able for three years. I can think of no better mentor as I continue to learn command and mastery of my empowered self.”
